The 2019 Lexus GX 460 Luxury SUV is equipped to handle today’s modern family and is designed to help them arrive in style, comfort, and safety wherever their adventures lead.

It is designed to look the part – and function accordingly – whether you’re driving to Bellevue Square or making the trek to Paradise Lodge at Mount Rainier. Command the city or command the weekend.

Full-time four-wheel drive with Torsen limited-slip differential and adaptive variable suspension with automatic load leveling, provide ease of mind anywhere, anytime. A two-speed transfer case with low range is supported by a wide array of chassis control technology.

A dual-purpose luxury vehicle, GX 460 is powered by a 301-horsepower 4.6-liter V8 engine producing 329 lb.-ft. of peak torque. Combine that with a 6,500-lb. towing capacity, and you’ve got an ideal boat hauler. Towing is aided with trailer sway control, a function of the vehicle stability control that enhances straight-line tracking.

The GX 460 is rated at 16-miles-per-gallon fuel economy by the EPA in combination of city/highway driving.

Versatility best describes the luxurious three-row GX. It’s not only engineered for all kinds of terrain, including extreme off-road conditions, it also displays exceptional craftsmanship throughout and seating for up to seven passengers. My tester included heated and ventilated captain’s chair front seats with a 60/40 split-fold flat second-row and 50/50 split third row.

The rear tailgate swings open left-to-right. There is minimal storage capacity when all seats are in use. But with the third row folded flat, there is more than enough room to store your stuff.

Elegance is standard on the GX 460. Available features include a wood and leather-trimmed heated steering wheel crafted exclusively with hand-selected materials. The GX’s available semi-aniline leather is dyed completely through, unlike most leathers with conventional surface dyes. New 2020 models will be equipped with an elegant Gray Sapele wood with aluminum trim.

Same goes for the exterior. Standard design package puts an extra touch on the luxury SUV with special details including an exclusive lower grille surround, rear valance, side mirrors, matte black exhaust tip, scarlet tail lamps and 19-inch alloy wheels with a gunmetal metallic finish.

Creature comforts are highlighted by a Mark Levinson audio system, power tilt/slide sunroof, tri-zone climate control, navigation with eight-inch touchscreen, radar cruise control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, backup camera, and intuitive parking assist.

Lexus, like its stable-mate Toyota, provides more than enough safety equipment to allow you to sleep peacefully. Features include a pre-collision system with driver-attention monitor, lane-departure alarm, intelligent high-beam headlights, crawl control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and more.

The GX 460 is manufactured at the Lexus plant in Tahara, Japan.
