EVERETT - An Everett police officer remains in critical condition this morning after a stolen vehicle smashed into her patrol car Sunday while she was driving to a reported burglary.
Officer Suzanne Eviston, 37, a dog handler with the department, was at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, her fellow officers at her side.
"She's not doing great. She's pretty hurt," Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said. "We haven't been advised that it's life-threatening at this point." Goetz declined to discuss the nature of Eviston's injuries.
Three men are behind bars in connection with the incident. One man has been arrested for investigation of first-degree assault, second-degree burglary, first-degree theft and possession of a controlled substance. He also had a warrant for his arrest for theft.
Police believe he was driving a stolen sport utility vehicle that slammed into Eviston's patrol car as she was responding to a burglary at a construction site in the 1500 block of Industry Avenue.
Two other men have been booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree burglary.
