PREP SOFTBALL: 7-run inning helps Arlington beat Cascade

EVERETT -- One inning was all Arlington needed to spoil Cascade's chances of clinching a 4A District 1 softball playoff berth Wednesday night.

Arlington scored seven runs in the second inning en route to a 9-0 victory over Cascade in the Wesco North game.

"We gave up three walks and four hits (in the second)," Cascade coach Wendy Close said.

That was too much for a Cascade team that managed just two hits all game.

Arlington's Lisa Allen hit a three-run double in the second inning. Kristin Wright hit a triple, one of nine hits for Arlington.

Cascade can still clinch a playoff berth today if it defeats Snohomish or if Lake Stevens loses to Everett.

"We need to win tommorrow," Close said. "I don't know about the other stuff, I just know what we need to do."
