Gas theft: Low blow stealing from non-profit

EquiFriends provides therapeutic equestrian activities for children and adults living with disabilities. We have provided this service to Snohomish County for going on 20 years, and have enjoyed wonderful support from the community at large.

Unless your head has been in the sand the last couple of months, you are well aware of the skyrocketing fuel prices that are hitting everyone's wallet especially hard. Imagine the dent it is making in our non-profit budget!

Recently, we had someone cut the fuel lines on our only drivable truck to siphon the gas out of the tank for their own use. This is despite the locking gas caps that were on both tanks! Apparently, that was not enough of a deterrent -- nor were the troublemakers thinking of the consequences to our program. (What if we needed to haul a horse to the vet in an emergency?)

There is nothing you or I could do individually to resolve the gas crunch here in our communities, but maybe reading this will make one potential gas thief stop and reconsider what trouble their actions might cause.
