SEATTLE — An Edmonds man was ordered Thursday to pay the IRS more than $800,000 after cheating on his taxes.
Lyle R. Larson, 43, also was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Seattle to 18 months behind bars. Larson pleaded guilty in April to filing a false tax return.
Larson admitted that he significantly under-reported his business income and failed to report self-employment taxes on his 2000 through 2003 individual tax returns, IRS officials said.
Larson, owner of the software development company Red Planet Corp., earned more than $2.8 million as a programmer and consultant. On his returns, he reported earning only $38,035 in business income, officials said.
Evidence shows that Larson bought luxury cars, a yacht and real estate and made various investments.
