Witness to Lake Ballinger killing turns himself in

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE – A teenager who police believe witnessed the killing of a 17-year-old Seattle girl at Lake Ballinger turned himself in Tuesday.

Detectives interviewed Mario “Pelon” Ibanez, 17, and released him to family members, Mountlake Terrace police Sgt. Doug Hansen said.

Police said Ibanez was at the Lake Ballinger boat ramp the night another man, Robert C. Langendoerfer, 21, of Edmonds, allegedly strangled, stabbed and drowned Britney Galindez.

Langendoerfer, a convicted felon and known gang member, remains behind bars for investigation of first-degree murder. A judge Tuesday ordered him held on $1 million bail.

Police Tuesday said they still want to talk to one other person who was at Lake Ballinger on Oct. 14, the night of the killing. Galindez was found floating in the lake on Oct. 21.
