LAKE STEVENS -- A police pursuit Thursday morning ended when the fleeing man's car broke down.
Just before 10 a.m., a Lake Stevens police officer tried to stop the car on Machias Road. The vehicle was suspected in a earlier pursuit in Snohomish, Lake Stevens police spokeswoman Julie Ubert said.
The driver didn't pull over and instead veered into oncoming traffic attempting to hit a police officer's patrol car, she said.
The officer swerved off the road and avoided a crash. Police chased the man's car along Highway 92 reaching speeds of 70 mph before his car began to fall apart, Ubert said.
