Super Kid / Katherine Robinson, 16: Glacier Peak junior hopes for career in humanitarian work

 Starting over: Katherine is part of an unusual class of Snohomish School District students that has attended three schools in three years. Students started at the Snohomish Freshmen Campus, attended Snohomish High School as sophomores and moved to Glacier Peak when it opened at the beginning of their junior year.

Nice change: She has good things to say about Snohomish High but is enjoying her new school, too. "I really like it a lot. I get to be more involved as an upperclassman now. With a new school, I think people are more open to new suggestions since we get to start new traditions."

Heavy load: Her schedule includes college-level advanced placement classes in biology and calculus as well as honors English, third-year German, leadership and history.

Liking leadership: She helped with the school's food drive in December and is gearing up for "Mr. GPHS," which is "like a beauty contest only more funny."

Staying busy: Katherine is a member of her school's speech and debate team; marching band; Key Club; Link crew, which helps freshmen adjust to high school; and Grizzly Cubs, which works with elementary-school children. She also has a two-day-a-week job tutoring international students. "I just like being involved. I hate not being busy. I know how to balance things."

Tough choices: She has started a long list of prestigious colleges she is interested in attending. Many are on the East Coast. At the top of the list is Brown University.

Career goals: Katherine is interested in studying international relations and perhaps psychology. She would like to work for a humanitarian organization, such as UNICEF, and help people who have endured trauma in Third World countries.

Favorite book: "When Broken Glass Floats" by Chanrithy Him.

Making music: Katherine plays flute; her eighth-grade sister, Charlotte, plays the bass and their mother plays the French horn.

Big sister: She is looking forward to being on the same campus with Charlotte when she is a freshman next fall at Glacier Peak. "We get along really well. We had fun at elementary school together."

Little known fact: Katherine is still in Girl Scouts. "I like it because it does community service."

Liking the Peak: "It's a new building. The teachers are so good, and everyone has a good attitude."
