Senior's drive to restaurant ends in remote forest

WENATCHEE -- A 90-year-old Roy man who was missing for four days was found alive in his car in a remote area about 100 miles east of his home during the weekend outside Wenatchee.

Robert D. Walker was last seen when he left his home in his car on May 19 en route to a restaurant in Spanaway, south of Tacoma. He was found in his car by three men who were looking for shed antlers Saturday evening on the east side of the Cascades Range. Shawn Ballard of Ballard Ambulance said, "It was just a miracle that these guys were out there."

Walker reportedly drove through a closed road, through a field and into a wooded area, where his car was stuck between trees.

The Wenatchee World reported Walker apparently sat in the car for four days before he was found. The newspaper said he was treated at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for dehydration.
