EVERETT -- The Snohomish County Council voted Monday not to stand in the way of Mukilteo's effort to annex a large area to the southeast of existing city limits.
The area includes more than 11,000 residents and 2,600 acres. The addition would add about 55 percent to the city's current population of 20,000.
The state Boundary Review Board is set to take up the issue on June 16. If the board decides the annexation can move forward, it could go to the ballot in November.
