TULALIP -- It's hard to forget that Tulalip is "fun, fun, fun ... the number one place for fun," but this summer you just might hear the jingle performed by the people who made it famous.
The Beach Boys are among the musicians scheduled to appear at the Tulalip Amphitheatre. That show is set for Aug. 9, but act fast if you want to attend; Quil Ceda Village officials said tickets are already flying out the door.
"We have Gary Allan of country-western fame opening July 9, and more than half the tickets for that show are already gone," said Ken Kettler, president of Tulalip Resort Casino.
Tickets for the rest of the shows, including the Beach Boys, are about half sold, Kettler said. Performers include Melissa Ethridge, Jonny Lang, Spike and the Impalers and Al Green. The concert series is scheduled to end with a performance by the Doobie Brothers on Sept. 2.
The amphitheater holds about 2,400 people. Kettler expects most shows to completely sell out.
Crews plan to begin building stages and creating the beer garden and other amenities next week, Kettler said. Recent warm weather has the outdoor venue, including landscaping, in great condition, he said.
Concertgoers can for the first time this year purchase a package deal that includes a room at the Tulalip Hotel along with concert tickets, Kettler said. That new offering will likely attract more people than ever to the amphitheater, he said.
"People like to get away and relax at Tulalip," he said.
That's because it's fun, fun, fun.
