Owen Schmitt, a second-year fullback for the Seahawks, was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Schmitt was pulled over by a Black Diamond Police officer who observed him weaving on the roadway and following too close, a report from the Black Diamond Police Department said. The officer noticed several signs of intoxication, including the smell of alcohol, and had Schmitt perform a field sobriety test, which he failed. After being arrested and processed for driving under the influence, Schmitt registered breath test results over the legal limit of .08.
Schmitt, a fifth-round draft pick from West Virginia who is expected to be the Seahawks starting fullback this season, issues a statement through the team on Thursday.
