RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. -- High Desert's James McOwen has extended his hitting streak to 40 games with a single in the ninth inning of a 6-4 loss at Rancho Cucamonga.
McOwen, an outfielder drafted in the sixth round in 2007 out of Florida International, was 0 for 2 with a walk for Seattle's Class-A affiliate Friday night before grounding a single to center with two outs in the ninth.
McOwen, who broke the California League record when he hit in his 36th straight game, has a way to go to reach the minor-league mark.
