3. Dennis Erickson, college/NFL football Sport: Football Local connection: Everett High, graduate Best known as: College/NFL football coach Era: Current Coaching bio One of the most successful coaches in college football history, Erickson enjoyed a national-championship career at Miami and also turned around programs at Washington State, Oregon State and Arizona State. After going 32-15 in his first head coaching gig at Idaho, Erickson went to WSU and led the Cougars to their first bowl win in 66 years. He then went 63-9 at Miami before joining the NFL's Seattle Seahawks for a four-year stint. In 1999, Erickson returned to the college level and, in his second season at OSU, led the Beavers to their first winning season in 28 years.
