West Beach Dungeness Crab & Wine Tasting
We welcome you at the historical Captain Whidbey Inn to celebrate the season of West Beach Dungeness Crab! We will be featuring a free crab and wine tasting, exclusive for all of our overnight guests February 23-24.
This culinary weekend features time with Tony Franulovich, our local fisherman who supplies crab to the Inn, and Chef Doug Metzger, who will demonstrate enticing ways to prepare the harvest. On Saturday (Feb. 23) at 1pm, Tony will share the secrets of crabbing in Puget Sound. Following at 2pm will be a demonstration on how to cook various crab recipes. Samplings will be provided, paired with local Whidbey Island wines. Chef Metzger will again be demonstrating Sunday afternoon (Feb. 24) with more recipes & wine pairings. This is an opportunity to learn something new and experience some of the finest seafood Puget Sound has to offer. Book your reservation online or by phone for Friday or Saturday at 360-678-4097. Special Offer: Stay for both nights and get your second night 50% off! Our waterfront restaurant will also be featuring complete West Beach Dungeness crab dinner specials Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings for the general public. -------------------------------------------- One of the most delectable gifts from the Pacific, Dungeness crab gets its name from a small town at the tip of Washington's Olympic Peninsula. Our crab is harvested locally right off of the western shore of Whidbey Island, just minutes from the Inn, ensuring that every serving is pure and fresh. Clear waters and strong currents along this particular stretch of coast give West Beach Dungeness a distinct sweet flavor and firm texture.
