FIBER ART: Whidbey Island Surface Design imageExplore the diverse media, creative techniques, and visual traditions in this exhibit of fiber surface design from artists living and working on Whidbey Island, WA. Opening Reception: March 7, 5-8pm.

Whidbey Island Surface Design is a group of artists living and working on a beautiful island in Puget Sound. All are members of the Surface Design Association an, while we work in many different media, techniques, and visual traditions, we share a fascination and ongoing interest in embellishing the surfaces of our artworks through the use of surface design techniques. Surface design encompasses the coloring, patterning, and structuring of fiber and fabric. This involves creative exploration of processes such as dyeing, painting, printing, stitching, embellishing, quilting, weaving, knitting, felting, and paper making.
