"Light a Light" for the City of Edmonds Youth Scholarship Fund
In the spirit of giving, light a light this holiday season for someone you love, something you wish for or in remembrance of a loved one.

Each light you light is a donation to the scholarship fund that enables local children to participate in our recreation programs who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to do so.

This year a living fir tree will be strung with lights and placed outside the entrance to the center.

Donate $5 per name and we'll note your donation on a main floor bulletin board inside the center. The tree will remain lit until January 4th.

To request a "light a light" form please call 425-771-0268.

A New Taste Of Thanksgiving
After Thanksgiving Hands on Holiday Workshops:

A ‘Green Friday & Saturday’ alternative to mass merchant ‘Black Friday’ holiday shopping honoring the Native Traditions.

We call this two day workshop “Green Friday” is in response to what is known as “Black Friday” promoting off island, mass merchant Holiday shopping.

Let’s bring back the idealism of local community creative processes and enhance our Holiday through self expression and creativity from the heart, hands and spirit with creative workshops that honor Native American and other Global Native Traditions.
Come learn how to make and play a Native American Flute, a drum and/or rattle, Weave a Native American basket or try your hand at Native American bead work. Play Native Didgeridoo and experience Journaling classes along with contemplative experiential walks on the lands of Chinook. Prices and times vary for each workshop.

After a wondrous day of creation, for $20, plan to spend Friday evening dancing to Marimba featuring Nzira, a local marimba group led by Dana Moffett, who inspires participation with their upbeat high spirited Zimbabwe influenced music. Then settle into the flowing music of Pamela Mortensen featuring her gifted Didgeridoo music. Next up will be the gentle and inspiring Native American Flute music and Native African Drumming of Joe Arnold and Wade Wilcox and, finally, the surprise gift you will not want to miss!
