Habitat: Sandy beaches and mudflats
Size: Length 8.5 inches, wingspan 17 inches
Fact: Dunlin have an interesting defensive mechanism while in flight. While flying, the flock will turn as one, creating an impressive flash from dark to light intended to distract predators such as peregrine falcons. See a video here.
