Motorcyclist dies in accident on Everett way

EVERETT - A man was killed Thursday when he lost control of his motorcycle in the 1600 block of SE Everett Mall Way, Everett police said.

The motorcyclist was northbound about 6 p.m. on Everett Mall Way and crossed into oncoming southbound traffic, according to Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant.

The motorcycle first struck the center divider, launching the cycle airborne into a southbound Daiwoo subcompact car, and then into a second southbound vehicle, which was an Everett Fire Department Ford sedan driven by a member of the Everett Fire Department, Bryant said.

Everett fire officials responded, and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured, Bryant said.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct a post-mortem investigation into the cause of death of the motorcyclist.

Anyone with information on the accident is urged to call the Everett Police Department tip line at 425-257-8450.

Lynnwood man faces charges in car-arson

A 33-year-old Lynnwood man was charged Thursday with second-degree arson for allegedly setting fire to a 1987 Toyota 4Runner and slashing the tires of numerous autos at Tequila Motors on Tuesday.

Deputy prosecutor John Adcock alleged that Jeremy Jon Denham had been upset because the Lynnwood auto dealership had repossessed his car.

Something had been stuffed into the gas tank opening of the 4Runner and set on fire. Tires on 18 of the vehicles on the lot had been slashed, Adcock said.

Denham is scheduled to appear today in Snohomish County Superior Court.
