Woman struck and killed by bus on Broadway

EVERETT - A woman police believe was in her 30s was killed Monday night after reportedly being hit by a Community Transit bus.

The woman was at or near the crosswalk at 33rd Street and Broadway when she was struck by the bus making a left-hand turn on its way to Lynnwood.

The woman was critically injured in the 5:17 p.m. accident. Witnesses and the Everett Fire Department provided aid, but she died later at Providence Everett Medical Center's Colby Campus.

The woman did not have identification on her.

Spokesman Boyd Bryant said Everett police and the Snohomish County medical examiner's office are investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Everett police tip line at 425-257-8450.

Lynnwood: Police officer hits pedestrian

A Lynnwood police officer on his way to work reportedly hit a woman crossing a street early Monday morning.

The woman, 48, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she is in serious condition, police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said. The nature of her injuries weren't known Monday.

According to police, the woman was walking across 194th Street SW near 52nd Avenue W. about 5:20 a.m. when the officer, who was turning left, struck her.

The officer, a six-year veteran, was driving his Ford F150 pickup on his way to the police station, Sessions said. It was dark and rainy, and the officer didn't see the woman, she said.

The woman, who lives nearby, reportedly wasn't in a crosswalk. She was wearing dark clothing and holding an open, dark-colored umbrella, Sessions said.

The officer chose to take the day off and "is very distressed by the tragedy," Sessions said. He has not been cited in connection with the accident.
