Group promotes home sharing
Whidbey Island Share a Home, or WISH, helps people with extra rooms and people looking for a place to live find affordable housing alternatives.
Home sharing allows homeowners with an extra bedroom or basement to safely match up with people who need a place to live. All participants in the nonprofit WISH program undergo reference and background checks to ensure safety and integrity.
Since the program began in January 2004, WISH has arranged 49 home-share matches, helping 161 men, women and children find affordable housing. For details, contact program director Julie Mae Pigott at 800-864-8783 or go to www.whidbeywish.org.
