Everett job fair invites veterans

A WorkSource Snohomish County Veterans Stand-Down and Job Fair is planned for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Washington Army National Guard Armory, 2730 Oakes Ave., Everett. Find information about employment, readjustment trauma intervention, disability claims, retraining options, homeless reintegration, accessing benefits and community resources.

Watch for summer crowds on ferries

Memorial Day means summer crowds will start riding state ferries.

Expect backups Friday afternoon and evening heading to destinations and again on Monday as travelers head home.

Ferries are supplementing service, but travel during noncommute times, such as 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or after 7 p.m., will help avoid delays. Returning home, it's best to travel as early in the day as possible.

On Friday, there will be an extra sailing from Clinton at 8:55 p.m. and from Mukilteo at 9:20 p.m.

Eat breakfast to support firefighters

The Robe Valley Fire Department will offer a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday at the station, 31907 Mountain Loop Highway, Granite Falls. Buy raffle tickets and make a donation to benefit the fire department and Explorer Search and Rescue.
