Fire destroys unoccupied home in Everett
EVERETT - Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a Saturday afternoon fire that destroyed an unoccupied home in Everett.
Firefighters arrived about 4:20 p.m. in the 700 block of Hawthorne to find the house engulfed in flames. Two explosions erupted from the burning home, but nobody was injured, according to the Everett Fire Department.
The home was a total loss. The fire department had not estimated the damage bill as of Saturday night.
An arson investigator from the Everett Police Department was called to examine the wreckage. Neighborhood children showed firefighters a cylindrical paper object that may have been a type of firework. It was found across the street from the burning home, according to the fire department.
