Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1957)

Ten Everett students were on the latest list of new admissions to Washington State College in Pullman for fall semester. They were Marcia Ann Herman, Lorne B. Holmstad, Jack Darrell Leary, Dennis Clyde Lemaster, Daniel DeWitt Martin, Larry Martin Nielsen, Sigmund R. Petersen, Diane Louise Pierson, Frederick Stepehenson and Louise Eleanor Vik.

Rosa Willits of 905 Oakes Ave. was in for some good luck. In fact, she was double lucky, having found an eight-leaf clover. The clover measured a full 2 inches.

25 years ago (1982)

Snohomish County had just edged out Spokane County as the third largest in the state by population. The population was estimated to be 356,400, ranking behind King County's at 1,311,400 and Pierce County's at 504,500. Spokane County had 334,770 people. Some city populations were Everett, 56,000; Marysville, 5,599, Lynnwood, 23,700; Edmonds, 28,300; and Mountlake Terrace, 16,200. The last three had shown slight losses over the past year.

Compu-Byte, a retail computer store, had opened at 4826 Evergreen Way. Compu-Byte offered the largest selection of Atari software and personal computers in the county, according to owner David Scott.
