You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, Earth fans

Posted at 1:03 pm by Sarah Jackson

    Here is something totally awesome.

Just when you thought you’d seen it all, heard every tired perspective there could be on the state of our beleaguered planet, along comes Hiroshi Takatsuki, a cartoonist and professor at Ishikawa Prefectural University in Japan.

“Some things cross cultures,” said my friend and co-worker Herald writer Debra Smith, who sent the link to me from the Japan for Sustainability Web site.

Take a moment, seriously, to delve into this man’s brilliant yet simple series, redrawn in color from his cartoon collection, “Haikibutsu” or “precious wastes.”

Takatsuki, who writes under the pen name High Moon, shines a bright light on the brutal hypocrisy we all have a part in when live on and love the Earth.

You’ll be depressed and uplifted all at the same time.

And isn’t that just the epitome of green?
