Kamiak emerges with win in unusual game MUKILTEO — This soccer game was unusual to say the least. It featured a 15-minute lightning delay, a goalkeeper scoring a goal on a free kick and a second-half hat trick.In the end, Kamiak prevailed 4-3 at home over visiting Edmonds-Woodway in the Wesco South contest. "It was not a pretty game," Kamiak head coach Beth Stewart said. "It was all anybody could do to finish it." Edmonds-Woodway's Cheyenne Smith tied the score early in the second half. Ten minutes later, Kamiak goalkeeper Kjerstin Stupey blocked a penalty kick, in the ensuing scuffle, the ball found its way to the waiting foot of Smith. She drove it home for her second goal of the game, giving the Warriors a 2-1 lead. It was at that point that Kamiak "got mad," according to Stewart. Her daughter, Kelli, scored three unanswered goals in the next 20 minutes, including a 30-yard free kick to put Kamiak ahead 4-2. At Kamiak H.S. Goals—Kamiak: Stewart 3, Reitan.
