Two plead guilty to pharmacy robbery

SEATTLE — Two Skagit County men have pleaded guilty in connection with a July 21 robbery of an Arlington pharmacy in which 1,700 narcotic pills were stolen.

Derek Lindstrom, 20, of Burlington, pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court. A second man, Randon Gilfillan, 18, also of Burlington, pleaded guilty last week to driving the getaway car after the heist of a Rite-Aid store in the 17200 block of Smokey Point Boulevard, federal officials said.

Lindstrom is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 7. Gilfillan's sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 17.

According to court documents, Lindstrom went into the Rite-Aid pharmacy and brandished what looked like a firearm. The weapon actually was a pellet gun, according to the court documents.

Lindstrom demanded the drugs and was given several bottles of oxycodone, an addictive prescription drug. An unidentified person went in with Lindstrom to serve as lookout, documents said.

The men took the drugs to a home in Burlington, and were arrested later in the day by Arlington and Burlington police.

Lindstrom faces up to 20 years in prison. The maximum penalty for Gilfillan is 10 years behind bars.

According to court papers, the men agreed to pay the pharmacy back for the stolen drugs.
