It’s not every day I stumble upon two great finds at once, but that’s just what happened this morning.

First, I found the Web site for Green October 2007, a collaboration of Puget Sound groups producing community events focused on sustainability. It’s a wonderful list if you want to get involved, celebrate sustainability or learn more about green living and saving the planet. There’s even a roundup of groovy events in Everett, including the Sustainable Energy Fair and Solar Tour 2007 as well as planting parties on Jetty Island and along Union Slough.

Cool.

In another serendipitous discovery, I also met, virtually, that is, Laura McCrae of Everett, whose totally awesome blog, Urban Hennery, is definitely worth a visit.

Laura, who describes her blog as “tales of a country girl wannabe and her downtown hens,” raises hens and dreams of moving to the country someday. Like me, she grew up in the Midwest. She enjoyed life on a farm outside Minneapolis. I grew up in Webster, S.D., which was a town of about 2,000 when my family lived there and sold farm equipment.

Laura is big on eating local and has a great selection of links for eating local in Snohomish County as well as gorgeous photos with nearly every post. She shares her experiences of being a dog and chicken owner as well her adventures in canning and home cooking.

Bravo!
