#&*! remotes!

Remember when you could turn on the TV by walking over and pushing a button? Now it takes six remote controls and a computer science degree to watch the news. And by the time you find the remote for the cable (under the coffee table) and the TV (hiding under a couch cushion) and the speakers (in the kitchen for an unknown reason), the news is over.

Logitech's solution is a universal remote it says actually works. If that's true, it's impressive. But if Logitech really wants to makes some money, it needs to create a remote control that comes when it's called. Perhaps they should team up with the engineers behind Sony's robot dog, the Aibo.

Cheating, previously a time-honored tradition in video games, is now a problem. With online play, cheats can rack up points unfairly, sometimes even trading for cash. And suddenly gamemakers care.

Prediction: Gamemakers will be able to stop gamers from cheating about the same time hackers stop targeting Microsoft's products.
