Happy belated birthday to us

How embarrassing. The Buzz turned a year old sometime last month, but it just so happens that we not only forgot our own birthday, but also the exact date on which it occurs.
However, we regard this as a reason for hope, not despair, since it means that by tomorrow, we may have forgotten all about the Seahawks’ bruising 21-0 loss to the Steelers.
In the meantime, we’ll have a belated celebration featuring a few things we like, such as:
Cake. A Bothell startup has created a hit video game called Cake Mania, in which a character named Jill is determined to revive the family bakery after it was forced to close by competition from a big-box store.
It’s popular among people who aren’t hard-core gamers and like baking but not the extra calories from licking the spoon.
A plot twist. Police in Arkansas were led on a chase across three counties — by a 10-year-old boy driving a stolen school bus.
It’s not known whether he’ll face charges — or how he was able to see over the steering wheel.
Triumph in the face of adversity. A teenager from Finland won the the feet-only division of the Rubik’s Cube World Championships despite the theft of his favorite customized cube.
To deter future thefts, the teen may want to start a rumor that he has a bad case of athlete’s foot.
