Kamiak gets key Wesco South win MUKILTEO -- Kamiak is in second place all by itself.The Knights got a goal in the third minute from Kelli Stewart off an assist from Ashley Hermes. Kamiak added another goal 11 minutes later from Carly Thomson and the defense made it stand up in the Knights' 2-0 Wesco South victory over Shorewood Thursday. The win was huge for Kamiak, which was tied with Shorewood for second place heading into the game, a pumped-up Kamiak coach Beth Stewart said. "We had a lot at stake going into the game," Stewart said. "I told the girls going into it, 'The team that wants it the most is going to win.' " Stewart added that the play of senior fullback Lindsey McDevitt and freshman fullback Shelby Knowles was a difference-maker in the contest. "The defense played its best game of the year," she said. "That's a good thing going into the playoffs." Kamiak goalkeeper K.J. Stupey recorded her fifth shutout of the season in the win. "It was a defensive battle," Stewart said. Kaeli Eberth found the net in the 68th minute to pull Meadowdale to within 2-1. Adams scored her first goal of the night in the 30th minute with an assist from Agen Heffernan.
