SULTAN ELECTIONS
Seehuus will make tough financial decisions
I support your choice of Kerry Ourada for Sultan City Council. Mr. Ourada has attended most council meetings since early 2006. He co-organized Sultan's "Police Appreciation BBQ" last spring. He's actively encouraged citizen involvement through the use of large signs posted along U.S. 2, to advise residents of important public meetings.
Most importantly, he's educated himself on Sultan's issues, while his opponent hasn't attended a council meeting since 2003 until he filed for office this year.
I disagree with your choice of Carolyn Eslick for Sultan mayor over John Seehuus. Mrs. Eslick's previous council service was unremarkable, and many years ago. If elected, she'll be struggling with issues beyond her knowledge or expertise. Mr. Seehuus, on the other hand, has been a rock-steady public servant for many years: as the Sultan school system's facilities director, as a Sultan planning commissioner and then its chairman, and now as a council member. He has practical, hands-on experience in government, supported by a strong business and economic development background. Mr. Seehuus' no-nonsense, "Let's get it done" approach means he'll make the tough financial decisions necessary to finally begin moving Sultan forward in a fiscally accountable manner.
