Now, instead of telling your kids they should be ashamed for not eating their broccoli -- "Think of the starving children in Africa!" -- you can tell them they'll have to dig worms for compost if they don't eat up the greens.

Gov. Chris Gregoire plans to dress as a penguin. No, she's not lobbying for protecting the Antarctic. She's just planning a cuddly Halloween costume. As the holiday approaches, here are a few dress-up ideas for other people in today's news:

Paula Hammond, Superwoman. The new state transportation chief could use some superpowers as she sorts through the parking lot called I-5.

Britney Spears, Mary Poppins. The troubled pop star needs to add a little wholesome practicality to her image as she battles for custody of her sons.

The Seahawks won on Sunday. No, that's no joke, they really did. Of course, they were playing a winless team, but after the debacle of the last game against a winless team, any win looks good.
