WATCHMEN

Word 'hate' used way too easily

In the recent articles regarding the Watchmen on the Walls, we find the word "hate" used repeatedly. I think we need to consider what the word hate means. The word hate means extreme or passionate dislike for someone. In these articles, the word hate is used to describe disagreeing or strongly disagreeing with someone.

If hate is disagreeing with someone, then the protesters are a hate group as well. They disagree with the opinions and beliefs of the Watchmen. However, the protestors are depicted as a peaceful, loving group that simply disagrees with the Watchmen, while the Watchmen, a group that disagrees with the protestors, is described as a dangerous hate group.

I also note The Herald's coverage of the event. They obviously disagree with the view of the Watchmen. Does The Herald hate the Watchmen? Is The Herald also a hate group?

In this country, we have the right to have differing opinions and beliefs and to voice them in a public forum. This is not hate, it is simply disagreeing.
