Kym Shanahan, who works at the Lynnwood Fred Meyer store, has been recognized as the Junior Achievement of Washington 2007 Volunteer of the Year for Snohomish County. During the 2006-07 school year, Shanahan taught Junior Achievement Programs in 10 classrooms throughout Snohomish County. More than 400 volunteers are involved with Junior Achievement in Snoho­mish County. Junior Achievement is dedicated to educating young people about business, economics and free enterprise. Luis Cadavid has joined TOC Management Services as the workers compensation manager in the company's Bothell regional office. Cadavid previously worked for the state Department of Labor and Industries and for a risk-management company. TOC is an employers association. Richard Mockler, deputy administrator of Snohomish Health District, recently received the 2007 Tom Drummey Award from the Washington State Public Health Association. Named for the association's first director, the award recognizes Mockler's contributions in educating policymakers about the value of public health in the state. Jessica Hayden-Spear, Don Ereaux and Jon Fox have joined Landau Associates in its Edmonds offices. In addition, Linda Naoi Goetz, Mario Lopez Ramos, Kathryn Hartley and David Nelson have earned promotions at the firm, which provides environmental, geotechnical and natural resources services. Hayden-Spear is a staff fisheries biologist, Ereaux is a staff technician and Fox is senior staff scientist geographic information systems technician. Goetz is now an associate in charge of the firm's cultural resource operations. Lopez Ramos is senior staff engineer, Hartley is senior staff scientist and Nelson is senior staff geologist. Clyde Scott now manages travel demand modeling and forecasting in the Everett office of Perteet, which provides a variety of planning services. Business news Everett Artist's Supply and Framing Store, 5321 Evergreen Way, is open now. The store was purchased by Dawn Westmoreland in May and she and her staff spent months restocking and remodeling the store. Westmoreland is a former art teacher and worked in the art department at Everett Community College. Sno-Isle Libraries recently received more than $4,600 from a baseball jersey auction sponsored by the Everett AquaSox and Papa Murphy's Pizza. The jerseys were auctioned Sept. 1 and proceeds were donated to the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation. The money will be used to support library programs, special events and services throughout the two-county library district.
