Veteran's Day Letters
What does Veterans Day mean to you?
The Herald would like to thank everyone who participated in this special writing opportunity. Due to the high volume of letters we received only a few were able to be published in the November 11th newspaper. These letters are so thoughtful we wanted to give everyone an opportunity to read the kind words of the students in our community honoring our Veterans.
“For the Veterans”
The soldier stood motionless He hauled his armor and held his uplifted sword offering the existence of his being.
He centered his focus on terrorists though internally feeling aghast He attempted to show his willingness for the ultimate battle.
The villain emerged from his marked territory the soldier grew confident yet filled with fear.
He knew his destiny; to lay in peace with pride. Though he lay silent on the field the voice of a pure champion could be heard for miles.
-Erika Parayno, Grade 6 Harbor Pointe Middle School
These letters were written by students that are involved in The Herald’s Newspaper in Education (NIE) program.
