STUDENT SAFETY

Thanks to city, WSP, police for efforts

As the parents of two students at Horizon Elementary and an active PTA parents, we are writing to express our gratitude to the city of Everett traffic engineers, the Everett Police Department, and the Washington State Patrol for their help in getting our students to school safely. We live in an area with a large number of pedestrians and a lot of car traffic, and last winter we had two of our students hit by cars walking home from school.

We were very excited earlier this fall when the city of Everett was able to put in a school speed zone on Casino Road to help protect our students, and then Thursday morning, a combined effort of the Everett Police Department and the Washington State Patrol really sent the message that drivers need to slow down and watch out for our children! We truly cannot express how thankful we are, and how proud we are of the combined efforts of all them to ensure pedestrian safety -- especially our children's -- on Casino Road.

You are all wonderful, and we don't think we say thank you to these officers and city officials often enough. We work very hard here to make our children and their families feel safe and welcome, and we thank you for helping them get here and home!
