Seems like yesterday

50 years ago (1957)

Larry Attwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Attwell of Everett, received his Eagle Scout rating, the highest in scouting, at a special ceremony of Everett Yacht Club. Young Attwell was a member of Sea Scout Ship 1, sponsored by the Yacht Club. He had been in Scout activities for about five years.

Everett's Seagulls survived a rugged second half at Kirkland last night to open their basketball season with a 45-37 nonleague victory over Lake Washington High School. Big Wayne Diedrich's presence gave Everett strength at the boards while captain Duane Sorenson took over in the second half, accounting for seven of his dozen tallies after intermission.

25 years ago (1982)

Not satisfied with their seventh place finish (out of 86) at the International Chili Society's world championship cook-off held at Universal Studios in Los Angeles, the Red Hot Tooters chili cooking team from Lynnwood was already looking to next year. Members were Ken and Marilyn Entriken, Bob and Cathy Johnson, Lanny and Pat Ulrich, Mark and Joanne Tucker, Bob Johanson and Kevin Gagnon.
