Families can make a donation, meet the firefighters and enjoy a candy cane treat. Edmonds Firefighters Local 1828 is accepting donations of nonperishable food, new toys and monetary donations through Dec. 15 at fire stations at 8429 196th St. SW, 275 Sixth Ave. N, and 23009 88th Ave. W. Donations will go to the South Snohomish County Food Bank for distribution. South Whidbey Island Giving Trees are up now at the Cash Store, 5603 Bayview Road, and at Neil's Clover Patch Cafe, in the Bayview shopping center near Langley. Sponsored by Goosefoot, a nonprofit neighborhood organization, the trees are decorated with handmade ornaments from 25 nonprofit organizations on Whidbey Island. Proceeds from sales of the ornaments go back to the organizations. New and slightly used shoes can be donated to Clothes For Kids for children from low-income families through an effort by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce. Shoes of all sizes can be dropped off 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Dec. 31 at the chamber, 121 Fifth Ave., Edmonds. A nonprofit organization, Clothes For Kids provides fall and spring wardrobes at no charge to families in Snohomish County. For more information, call 425-670-1496. Bank of Everett is supporting the Christmas House in Everett and is accepting donations for the effort. Toys for infants through teens, hats and gloves, and new children's clothing will be accepted until Dec. 21 at the Bank of Everett office at 2722 Colby Ave., Suite 100, Everett. Volunteers of America's Snohomish County Food Distribution Center needs sponsors for its Holiday Basket Bureau program and volunteers to help distribute the food. Sponsors provide holiday food for families, children, seniors and people with disabilities who need help during the holiday season. Individuals and groups are encouraged to sponsor a family or families. Volunteers who are available weekdays are particularly needed for data entry, mailing and phone calls. Snohomish County Tourism Bureau is helping U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots by providing drop-off locations for donations of new, unwrapped toys. Through Dec. 21, donations can be left at: South County Visitor Information Center at Heritage Park, 19921 Poplar Way, Lynnwood, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 9 a.m. to noon Sundays; Everett Visitor Information Center in the Everett Events Center, corner of Hewitt Avenue and Broadway, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday; North County Visitor Information Center, 3710 168th St. NE, Suite C101, Arlington, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. SpaceStation Games in Marysville is helping Operation Marysville Community Christmas with toys for children of low-income families. Customers at SpaceStation receive two free hours at the business when they bring in an unwrapped gift for Operation Marysville Community Christmas. Snohomish Rotary Club will take orders for its online Christmas tree sale through Thursday for pickup on Saturday in Snohomish. To order a tree, go to www.snohomishrotary.org/treefarm.htm. The service club uses proceeds to support local charities that benefit young people, the arts and literacy.
