FERRIES

Tired of politicians abandoning ship

For once, Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen is right -- someone should lose their job over the way the entire Steel Electric Ferry scandal has played out -- and the first one in the unemployment line should be Sen. Haugen herself!

Haugen typifies perfectly the "rusty, unsafe" management we've experienced over several decades of Democratic "leadership" on transportation for Washington state. As chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, Haugen has not only clearly demonstrated her incompetence in handling the ferry disaster, she's already shifting the blame to others -- claiming that, "We're not engineers!"

Apparently, she's not a leader either.

We're tired of politicians like Haugen attempting to "abandon ship" when they should instead be solving our transportation and congestion mess.

It's time for real change and real leadership in Olympia.
