Gardner cuts head in fall at Tacoma school meeting Associated Press TACOMA -- Former Gov. Booth Gardner fell to the floor before a school board meeting in Tacoma and slid into a wall, opening a 2-inch cut above his left eye. He was taken to Allenmore Hospital Wednesday night, and spokesman Todd Kelley says he was treated and released. Gardner is 71 and has Parkinson's disease. He was at the meeting to express his interest in the job of superintendent. After he was taken away by paramedics, a facilitator read his statement that he's a leader with proven experience. Earlier Wednesday in Olympia Gardner had introduced the "Death with Dignity" initiative, based on the Oregon law to allow assisted suicide. ------ Information from: The News Tribune, http://www.thenewstribune.com
