'Affair to Remember' celebrates 50th

Notable DVDs being released today include:

"An Affair to Remember: 50th Anniversary Edition": It doesn't get much classier than Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr in the story of a playboy (Grant) and former lounge singer (Kerr) who meet on a cruise ship and fall for each other. One hitch: They're both engaged to other people. They agree to rendezvous atop the Empire State Building six months later to decide if they're meant to be together. This two-disc edition features a new digital transfer of the film, commentary by vocalist Marni Nixon and film historian Joseph McBride plus features focused on Grant, Kerr, director Leo McCarey and more. (Unrated)

"Dragonlance: Dragons of the Autumn Twilight": This is an animated flick based on Dungeons and Dragons-inspired franchise. It features the voices of Kiefer Sutherland, Lucy Lawless and others. (PG-13)

"Good Luck Chuck": Of the 96 reviews movie review Web site Rottentomatoes.com collected of this attempt at comedy, 93 hated it. Jessica Alba and Dane Cook star. For the masochistic, extras include commentary by Cook, director Mark Helfrich plus the producer and writer, along with a few features. (Available in both R and unrated versions.)

"In the Heat of the Night: 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition": The Sidney Poitier classic gets an updated edition that includes new features plus commentary by director Norman Jewison, actors Lee Grant and Rod Steiger and cinematographer Haskell Wexler. (Unrated)

"It Came From Beneath the Sea" and "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers": Two more releases for fans of movie producer and special effects master Ray Harryhausen. (Both unrated)

"Love Lies Bleeding": Christian Slater is a crooked DEA agent after a young couple who stumbled across some of his dirty money, took it and ran. A lot like "No Country for Old Men" minus the Coen brothers, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin and the artistic touch. (R)

"Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience": This documentary explores the accounts of U.S. troops in their own words. The film uses interviews and readings by such people as Robert Duvall, Josh Lucas, Beau Bridges, Blair Underwood and Aaron Eckhart. (Unrated)

"She's Gotta Have It": Spike Lee's first full-length movie as writer and director finally makes its DVD debut. The only extra is the theatrical trailer. (Unrated)

"Strays": Vin Diesel in his directorial debut, loosely inspired by his own adolescence in New York. (Unrated)

"Suburban Girl": Sarah Michelle Gellar plays a New York book editor navigating her increasingly complicated office life and romance. (PG-13)

"The Ten": Actors including Paul Rudd, Gretchen Mol and Winona Ryder take part in 10 irreverent sketches based on the Ten Commandments. Extras include commentary, deleted scenes and ring tones. (R)

"The War Bride": Fans of "Pushing Daisies" and Anna Friel may want to seek out this one. Friel stars as a pregnant British war bride who has moved to Canada, where she is rather coldly received by her in-laws. A plucky sort, she determinedly tries to find her place in the community. (Unrated)

"Mr. Woodcock": Seann William Scott is determined not to let the hard-nosed gym teacher (Billy Bob Thornton) who tormented him in his youth marry his mother (Susan Sarandon). If you find the title funny, you'll probably love the rest of the movie. If not, you won't. (PG-13)
