New director named for Boeing engineers union

Ray Goforth, an adviser to another engineering union, has been named the new executive director of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace.

Goforth, who will lead the union that represents engineers and technical workers at the Boeing Co., was hired after a six-month search. He succeeds Charles Bofferding.

"We are very pleased to have Ray Goforth as our new executive director," said Cynthia Cole, SPEEAA preisent. "It's a new start at SPEEA."

Goforth, a union representative and adviser at Local 17 of the International Federaltion of Professional and Technical Engineers in Seattle, is an experienced negotiator, Cole said. He is a graduate of the University of Washington law school.

As the union's executive director, Goforth will represent 24,050 workers
