BREMERTON — When the ferry Yakima slammed into the dock at Bremerton it caused enough hull damage to begin taking on some water.
The ferry system took the Yakima out of service after the accident at 1:50 a.m. Friday for inspection and an investigation by the agency and Coast Guard.
Ferry spokeswoman Susan Harris says wind may have been a factor in the hard landing.
While the 144-car Yakima is out of service, there is only one ferry on the Seattle-Bremerton run. Harris says commuters may delay their travel or take other routes across Puget Sound until a replacement can be moved to the route.
Repairs will determine how long the Yakima will be out of service.
