Music Mondays: Hear tracks from the Presidents and see the group's new video

Posted at 12:01 am

The Presidents of the United States of America, that wacky alt-rock group from Seattle, are back with a new album, out Tuesday.

I talked with the group's guitbass player, Andrew McKeag, for my column this week. As promised in that column, here are some tracks from the group.

  • "More Bad Times": This fine little pop rock song about someone who’s never played charades or picked up a live hand grenade.

  • "Kitty": A song off the group’s 1995 breakthrough, this funny little song finds Chris Ballew waxing not-so-poetic about a kitty on his foot. Man, does he really get irritated with that thing by song's end.

  • "Mixed Up S.O.B.": This rocker has been getting play on 107.7 The End, but I can’t say I love it. The chorus, with its plain talk of a mixed up son of a bitch, lacks the group’s usual playfulness. The video, directed by Weird Al Yankovich, ain’t bad, though.
