by Elaine Helm This week marked the fifth anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq war, and many news outlets, including The Herald, took the opportunity to check in with some of the people most affected by it.
The News Tribune in Tacoma put together a video chronicling the role of soldiers and airmen from Fort Lewis and McChord throughout the war. The Washington Post (which owns The Herald) interviewed 13 people with a stake in the war to offer their perspectives. NPR did its own series of interviews leading up to this week.
In case you missed The Herald's stories, you can find them all online here. You also can share your memories of the 17 people with ties to Snohomish or Island counties who have died in the war and look back at the events that had the biggest impact here.
