Snow could make Thursday morning commute ugly
By Jackson Holtz Herald Writer
It may be spring time but snow is forecast to fall beginning tonight in Snohomish County and could make for an ugly commute Thursday, forecasters said.
A mix of rain and snow will develop throughout the day turning to mostly snow overnight, said Dennis D’Amico, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Seattle.
As much as an inch of snow could accumulate by the morning rush hour in the lowlands, he said.
“If an inch does materialize, it doesn’t take much to mess things up around here,” D’Amico said.
There’s also a potential for a convergence zone to set up over the Everett area which could dump even deeper snow.
Heavier accumulations are predicted in the eastern parts of the county, he said.
The snow likely will melt away as temperatures rise into the 40s Thursday.
Temperatures are forecast to fall again Friday and more snow is possible.
Mostly cloudy skies and rain are forecast through Sunday when some sunshine is possible, D’Amico said.
