The final day

Posted at 9:48 am by By Kirby Arnold

There's definitely a change of seasons taking place around the Peoria Sports Complex today, and it has nothing to do with another beautiful day in the desert.

It's getaway day for the Mariners, with most of them leaving about noon on a flight to San Francisco for tonight's game against the Giants.

At 8 a.m., the clubhouse was virtually empty, except for Willie Bloomquist and Felix Hernandez (who'll play in this afternoon's game in Peoria) and dozens of bags that will make their way to San Francisco later today (where the M's play the Giants tonight), then Las Vegas late tonight.

The main attraction at today's game against the Padres in Peoria is Hernandez, who'll make his final spring training start before pitchingin the second game of the season Tuesday. DH Jose Vidro also is in the lineup (no DH tonight in San Francisco), as are catcher Kenji Johjima and utility player Willie Bloomquist. Beyond those three, fans here will see a bunch of Mariners minor leaguers.

Those watching tonight's game in San Francisco (it'll be televised on FSN) will see most of the Mariners' opening-day lineup. Here are the lineups for today's games:

This afternoon vs. the Padres:

16 Willie Bloomquist SS
64 Mark Kiger 2B
3 Jose Vidro (S) DH
12 Kevin Witt 1B
2 Kenji Johjima C
24 Ronnie Prettyman (L) 3B
8 Prentice Redman LF
77 Greg Halman RF
3 Daniel Carroll CF
----------------------------
34 Felix Hernandez RHP

Tonight vs. the Giants:

51 Ichiro Suzuki (L) CF
4 Jose Lopez 2B
28 Raul Ibanez (L) LF
44 Richie Sexson 1B
6 Brad Wilkerson (L) RF
12 Mike Morse 3B
15 Jamie Burke C
5 Yuniesky Betancourt SS
41 R.A. Dickey RHP

Come home, Mariners!
It's been nice hearing the spring training updates, but let's get on with the season already!!! Are these guys going to be fresh and ready to start the season on Monday or will they be worn out from a travel-packed weekend?
