Interesting project for honor society

Honor society projects could be hosting spelling bees or science fairs, but when it comes to raising money, the Kamiak High School Honor Society went to a fan favorite.

The society is hosting a seniors vs. staff basketball game to raise money for area food banks.

Honor Society President Kevin Song said that three years ago, the basketball game raised money for scholarships, but this year the money will help feed the hungry.

See the game at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the school, 10801 Harbour Pointe Blvd., Mukilteo.

Disabled offered a resource fair today

Snohomish County Transition Council and Everett Community College will sponsor the 11th annual Snoho­mish County Transition Resource Fair, an event for those with disabilities age 14 and older, families and teachers.

Meet with more than 50 agencies to learn about community resources, housing options, vocational agencies, recreation, transportation, guardianship, education and Social Security.

It's set for 4 to 8 p.m. today at Everett Community College, 2000 Tower St., Everett.

Volunteers needed for lighthouse jobs

The last on-site training session for people interested in volunteering at the Mukilteo Lighthouse this summer is planned for this weekend.

The training session is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the lighthouse, 609 Front St., Mukilteo. Volunteers are needed for duties such as providing lighthouse tours, staffing the gift shop and meeting with visitors.

The lighthouse is open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from April through September. Volunteers must be able to work one day per month.

Volunteer to clean the lighthouse at 10 a.m. Saturday.
