Snow falling now not expected to stick to roads
Herald Staff
Snow is falling throughout the Puget Sound region, but the flakes are expected to turn back into rain within a few hours, said Mike McFarland, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Seattle.
Snow is sticking to grass and trees in some areas, but the roads remain clear, and aren’t expected to be icy for the evening commute, McFarland said.
Outlying areas have had snow most of the day, he said. The snow began falling in Seattle at around noon, and just before 2 p.m. in Everett.
“There won’t be a problem with roads,” McFarland said. “On the hills, it’s primarily just sticking to the grass. Even on Snoqualmie Pass, it’s not as bad as it could be. Just slush.”
Temperatures aren’t expected to fall below freezing in most areas in the Puget Sound region tonight, he said.
